About Dr Kristen Hamling

Internationally respected trauma psychologist

Kristen is the person behind Wellbeing Aeoteroa. She is a professional psychologist, facilitator, coach, and researcher with a formal educational background (BSc(Hons), MAppPsych, PhD (Wellbeing)).

It was when Dr Kristen Hamling was in the Australian Army Reserve that the seed of curiosity around trauma and wellbeing was planted. She saw first-hand how deployment to places like Afghanistan and East Timor had very different effects on her fellow soldiers. Kristen became fascinated with learning how to help lessen the impact of traumatic events and, where possible, support people and companies who have been exposed to trauma.

Fast forward to 2020 – now 46 and a psychologist for 20 years, Kristen has supported and educated thousands of people over the years on how to deal with traumatic events.  Schools, emergency service organisations and multiple corporate organisations through to diverse government agencies.
